Take french or Latin. I take french and partially taking latin, it really widens your vocabulary. Many latin roots are in english words. French is basically vulgar Latin, so it applies too.

read english books,,alongwith a dictionary,,

write atleast 2 paragraphs on any topic(maybe ask  ur frnd to give u a topic),,

and of course,, speak english consistently,,

watch some movies on anything, just dont watch some ghetto movies haha.

Read a variety of materials: headline news, editorials, magazines, fiction as well as non-fiction novels. Classic novels are superb (e.g. Animal Farm, Grapes of Wrath).

Write down and look up words that you don't know. Don't skip over them.

Speak to your peers (a lot) and watch some quality programming.  Observe eloquent speakers, such as Bill Clinton and avoid horrendous speakers, such as 'Dubya'.

Talk, talk with people as they will model correct language and it also gives you a chance to practice as well.  Also watch movies.  Read, read, read to increase vocabulary.  That's what it takes!
