I'm doing radio/podcast shows on Blog Talk Radio's site, and I want to improve my voice for the show to adjust it, make it more clear and keep a constant tone. How would I go on to do so?

  1. Try not to say hmm mm yeah or ..you can also take a speach class that should help.

  2. If you notice MOST OF THE REALLY BIG djs etc etc have regular voices.  Mid-America sound Like Johnny Carson. Most guys with THAT PERFECT VOICE don't do much. Learn to say your words properly. Rush Limbaugh has a regular guy sound.  I was in radio over 20yrs. Someone with a distinct sound is better. I ran a WILD personality type free form show always. I was usually hired because I was different and they expected me that way. Been off the air since 80,,I still get many offers,,but that old revolving door of ROCK radio keeps coming back to mind.  Remember like Gene Allison sang 'YOU CAN MAKE IT IF YOU TRY".

  3. practice practice practice.  Record yourself, listen critically to how you speak, not what you say.  Try to be yourself, not someone else. Be natural.  The more you do it, the more comfortable and natural you will become.  Ask friends to critique your speaking on your recordings to see if you are going to fast or to slow, adding excessive emphasis, or being to flat in your presentation.  It doesn't come overnight but with practice, you can do well.
