I have a standard panasonic Mini-DV camcorder and when i edit with Pinnacle, the quality is very bad. i see a lotttt of lines. like the Interlaces. how can i improve this? is it the way i uploaded it? Im using firewire.. its not a wide screen Camcorder, so i cant pick NTSC Progressive Widescreen.. can i pick NTSC Progressive, NTSC Standard, or HD 1440x1060/60i for the best quality? The bad quality came rom the HD 1440x1060/60i option. is that the best i can get? its not a HD camcorder either. ThANKS

  1. Visit http://supercamcorder.blogspot.com and http://digitalcameras.fateback.com will get adequate information on what you are asking of.

  2. You have to match the project's properties with the video camera's - in this case it's NTSC standard.

  3. your cam records at 720 x 480 so that's the option you need to choose. 7mb datarate both recording and writing to dvd. Don't deinterlace that's just for analog like vhs or analog 8.

  4. your problem is not interlace as such. besides miniDV, i have edited with 1"C, Betacam, MII and D9. All are interlaced, with no lines, ever. I can only think of two possibles, one being perhaps the new megapixel ccds may have a problem with generating the 480 lines by interpolation. The other would be if you are cross converting between NTSC and PAL.  you need to stay in one system or the other. Or it could just be the way pinnacle puts up the display on the computer, do you see the same lines after editing, when viewing finished work on a regular TV set??

  5. 720 x 480 ntsc standard

deinterlace the footage so you don't get the lines.
