How to improve the speed of a 1998 Grand Am SE 2.4l V4?

My friend has a 98 Grand Am that he is stuck with. The engine has recently been rebuilt and he just dose not have the money for a new car. He is currently saving up for a nice down-payment on a Pontiac G8 but until next year he wants to try to take the little Grand Am engine to the next level.

Is there any way to make it faster without breaking the bank?

It already has a intake and axle back exhaust on it,

how fast do you gotta go is 100mph or 200kmh not dast enoguh for your friend i say they have an abnormal want for speed

He could hook up some nitrous to it but with such a small rebuilt stock engine he would run the risk of blowin up the engine. But for the power gained it would be the cheapest up grade but there are risks without upgradeing the engine to handle the extra pressure from the spray. Oh and by the way there is no such thing as a V4. I4 is what is in it.

Dude, its a grand am. not a race car. Why would u want that car to go faster. Seriously, keep it in ur pants for a year and get the G8. its a grand am. come on now.
