Question:

How to incorporate my kids birthdays at school?

My twins just turned 5 one week before school started. They want to be able to bring cupcakes like all the other kids do, but I feel weird about bringing cupcakes so late after their actual birthday. Does anyone have any ideas?

  1. kindergarten kids dont care if there birthday was a week ago they are just glad to yummy cupcakes

  2. Its fine generally at the end of the school year kids with summer birthdays get a chance to bring in cupcakes and their birthdays could be 2 months away. Ask the teacher what day and go for it, they will have fun.

  3. My school [I'm a teacher of 3rd grade] has "UN-birthdays for the kids who have them out of school.  Ours are generally near the end of the year, but it is each teacher's judgment call.

Ask before doing any bringing in of food.  Some days us teachers can't fit in a party.

  4. Try writing/talking to the teacher.  Some school do summer birthdays around the child's half-birthday, some like to do it when there aren't many other birthdays that month, some will let you do it when it's convenient for your.  In your case, i think the teacher will be fine with them celebrating a few weeks late, its still pretty close.  It's not like your asking to have their June birthday in September, its only a few weeks off from their real birthday, and they are going to let your children do it at some point, so i think they would agree with you that this is a good time, just make sure its not another child's actual birthday.  Happy birthday to your twins!

  5. Just bring in the cupcakes and help them celebrate a belated birthday

  6. I don't think it is too late since their birthday was just last week.  Go ahead and let them bring cupcakes to school to have a belated birthday celebration.

  7. How late are we talking about? Did school start already? How long have I been asleep?

If you bring them on the first day of school and it had only been one week that's not so bad.  If it's like a month after their birthday...well just say your twins wanted to do something nice for the class and since everyone was away from school when they had their birthday- TaDaaaaa here are some cupcakes.  Or just skip it. Your twins are the lucky ones because they birthday falls in summer, whereas the others have to have their bday during school.

  8. bring them in

  9. Talk with the teachers. I'm sure she'll let you.

But, what I'd do at the end of the year, which is what people that had summer birthdays when I was in elementary, bring them in the last week of school!

    Good luck!
