  1. hi biswabara,

first relax urself. dont think of anything instead what u r going to do. just try to understand the subject what u r studying currently.

before start studying u must hav d concentration.

to improve ur concentration focus any of the point that was at some distance (eg. some 1 meter distance from u) for some minutes. then start studying.

Instead all d the above a simple thing that u can done just listen the subject in the classroom and recall what u listened in the class room.that actually reduce the time u hav to spent for studying.

  2. The link given in the previous post is really good. Thanks for sharing that. However, I differ in view from the 2nd person's suggestion regarding "not to think to anything else", because it is not practical.  No offense meant, but can anybody be awake and not think of anything just for 2 minutes?  May be expert yogis can do it but I don't think any ordinary person can do that.

I my view, a few things which can be done practically is:

    1. Consider any thing you do as a part of your daily routine rather than part of exercise you have to complete. So, consider yourself in a role like say you are taking part in a Quiz competition or as a Challenge with your friends and NOT as a part of exam.  That will help you in achieving things faster.

This also is not always practical, say for example, especially if you are learning a poem or an equation in maths.  However this may work for Science (especially Physics and Biology). Also it may vary by your area of interest.

    2. Another way is record the whole passage you learn in a portable device like a small mp3 player or even cassette player and just listen to it again and again when ever you get free time.  You may play, or do other work but don't involve in anything which requires lot of concentration while you listen to this.  Eventually you will hear the words of the tape echoing back even when you don't listen to it.

    3. Set small targets.  Don't think of completing the whole book in a given time. Instead, start with something which excites you, try to finish that in a short time. Record the time taken to learn that. When you study another chapter or subject, decrease the target time a little bit and try to complete learning before that and keep improving like that.

    4. Physical movement, exercise, etc. is yet another factor which helps in improving concentration.  Take frequent breaks like a 3 mt break in every 20 minutes or so and while you are at study but make sure you don't get carried away by other disturbance like visiting guests, friends, tv, games, etc. It is also important to keep little gadgets away from your reach while studying.

    5. A combined study with a close friend of yours will help. Choose a friend who performs slightly better than you but not too much difference.  That way, you will always try to be at least his level in finishing the studies.

    6. Also in day to day life, say if you forget where you keep your things often, one way to remember is to tell it loud when you do something. For example when you keep your pen down in a table. You say it loud that "I am keeping this pen in living room table".  It may sound stupid but it definitely helps.  Also having a pattern in your in life (like where you keep your stuff, what time do you eat your break fast or lunch etc.) would also help. It would make your life more organized.

Hope these tips help would help.

  4. Yoga and meditation

relax your mind 5 min before studying.

it will help to regain your concentration.

dont think about anything else while studying.

For study purpose make graphical representations on any book or in your  mind of those things which you are studying.

it will help you to remember things easily.

  5. Hi,

I personally think there are many ways to solve your problem.

    1) Always try to revise the chapters at home that are taught in the class, make it a regular practice. It really helps.

    2) Start meditating in the morning. It really works because Meditation is a discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness and it involves turning attention to a single point of reference.

So, it will help you to improve your concentration on what you are doing.

    3) Whenever you starts studying, first jus relax for 5 mins and take long breath (meditation), take some short break during study hrs, don't keep sitting for long period, try not to study after the lunch time, 2 to 4 pm (our body doesn't allow us to do so).

    4) Even during your exams, before attempting the questions, first ..take long breath and close your eyes..jus for two minutes.

I have younger siblings..and i give same advise to them....exam time is very crucial and every one wants to get good marks.

I saw some one suggesting you to sit with your friend at home for studies..my suggestion..a big "NO".....I know it seems little rough, but practically speaking in todays competition..you cannot trust any one...you are your true friend....

Every one wants to get good marks than other, so if we think it practically...this thing never works...though it sounds good....you can consult your friends and teachers..but should not sit with your friend at home to study..please don't mind.....i really want to help you that's why telling you this....

    All the best!
