The tidal-lowlands are wet most of the time so that there is no

alternative use other than paddy. The rice farms are the best and only commercial use of the tidal lowlands. Much of the tidal lowland rice is grown naturally with no inputs other than that supplied by the tidal waters. Productivity can be increased bu managing the water levels by building levies. Also supplying some organic fertilizer can improve yields  considerably.
