Hello all,

I wanted to find out how I can run a half marathon from pacing it in 2hrs and 33mins to 1hr and 09mins?

I'm also planing on doing somthing that only 17 men in the world can do by time I'm 30 years old. I want to be able to pace right around Australia over 15,000kms any tips how to train up to it? btw I'm looking from very experrenced athletes advises. And don't tell me this can't be done because it has been done before.

  1. For the half marathon, that's a pretty large improvement you're expecting. You're talking an 11:40/mile pace to a 5:16/mile pace. A lot of people have a darn hard time ever getting to one mile at 5:16 pace (or even a half mile at that speed).

You should probably find a dedicated running website / board for a lot of these questions, as you're talking about a massive speed improvement beyond the scope of things here (and general running training). For that matter, you're talking stuff you might want to grab a book or two for.

You're also not going to find a lot of simple tips for training for 15,000 kilometers (9300 miles) either.

Go out and run. A lot. Maybe read the books by Dean Karnazes or other ultra runners out there for thoughts on nutrition, not getting hurt, etc.

You might want to get that 2:33 down to a 2:15 or better first. Try running on hills and working speedwork days into your training. Be careful not to get injured.

And are you planning to actually go around Australia, or do you simply want to cover that amount of distance in that time frame, regardless of where you do it? (In other words, can you simply run the same 10 mile route every day next to home and add up the miles, etc.? Or are you planning to go running and camping virtually nonstop for a couple years as you actually do the loop?)
