We want to put this over our existing vinyl tile floor in the kitchen. But there are a few tiles in the kitchen which have cracked and there are little pieces loose. what do we need to do? Remove the cracked tiles? If there something we need to do to prep the floor before we put this down? Anybody have any experience with this please let me know. Thanks!

  1. I'm putting some more in tomorrow and all you have to do is ensure that the surface that you're putting it on is level and clean.  A few cracks in the tiles won't hurt anything.  A few loose pieces - just take them out unless it will leave a hole big enough that the vinyl will not be supported when you step on it.  Leave them in if they will remain flat with the rest of the surrounding tiles.  As you put it in, ensure that you don't get any pebbles, etc in between the adhesive parts and under the flooring as it will noticeably be bumped up.  Easiest flooring I've put in.  All you need is a utility knife to score it.  I use a combo square to guide the utility knife as I score it.  Ensure you leave a 1/8" gap around the edges.
