On the same ceiling there is a Light Fixture, but I am not an electrician so not sure how to pull the wiring from the light fixture to accomodate the ceiling fan wiring. Can I get some advice ?

Thanks, Karim.

  1. You need to know what amp rating the circuit is, how far the room is from the panel, what the gauge wire is, and what's the load these two items going to have on this circuit just for starters.  Now you'll need a SAFE-T-BRACE Remodel type fan mounting kit from Home Depot or Lowe's and some drywall/plaster experience to repair the ceiling after you pull the wire and nount the fan.

  2. one simple way would be to run the wiring from the original location, woven through some chain links, to your new location. They make plates which will cover the hole on the old spot. You then have a swag light in the new location. The directions with the fan will include wiring needs for a light kit also. Write back and give details if you want, I'll get back to you

  3. Well if you have the time to watch a few videos , then maybe this site will make you feel comfortable to do it yourself.

call a electrician.   At lest turn off all the power before you try and good luck!

  5. Ceiling fans must be either mounted on a joist or supporting wood bar across the joists. You don't want to be a victim of a blender. First drill a very small hole about the size of a straightened wire hanger at the exact location where you want to relocate your ceiling fan. Then have someone poke the wire up and down while you go to the attic and find the location of the moving wire. If you're lucky, it maybe right next to a joist, otherwise you will need to install a wood support like 2x4 across the joist. Make sure to use a quad galvanized steel junction box for added strength and safety and make sure the base of the fan is securly screwed into the supporting wood.
