  1. To the first person who answered this question. Brand and model are totally irrelevant. What the he!! is a crt projector? (And I dont mean a standard projo. tv) This person is obviously using a front projection system! And no real home theatre projector has audio inputs.  You show the fact your a neophite right there. Im going to assume you want distance for screen size, to place or mount, and how to connect your components. Right? Anywho here you go. For distance to screen size, if you want around a 100" to 120" picture go 11' to 12' from the mount or stand to the screen. (If you ceiling mount the projector the picture will be upside down! There is a button on the clicker that will swap this. If its a stand leave it as is out of the box.) You should be able to figure out smaller or larger screen ratios from these figures. Now the home theatre connections. Get a receiver that at the very least can switch from composite(yellow video) to component video (red, green, blue), this will be the minimum analog to hd conversion. The next step up is a receiver that can go from composite to hdmi conversion. (But that will depend on if the projector you pick and which input it has.) These two configurations will allow you to hook anything up to your receiver and get the pic to your projector with one set of cables. The receiver is like the brain of your system, it regulates what goes where audio and video wise. Dont forget the individual audio connections for each component. Either red&white (analog), or fiber optic and digital coax (digital). Now place your speakers and run the wire and you should be set. Any other questions about the next steps ask another question or mail me. Good luck

  2. Yeah... we are going to need a bit more information for that. Say at least the brand and model; though it should have come with a book that tells you this.

Installing a home tv projector varies greatly between a portable LCD/DLP unit or a CRT unit. Cables and inputs also matter, as you may or may not be able to run your audio through the projector, or you may have to buy various adapters for video inputs.

The setup you want also makes a difference; did you want to hang it upside down or are you simply putting it on a shelf thats attached to the wall. I find LCD/DLP can go on a shelf, but you certainly wouldn't want a CRT unit on a shelf.

Darknight: Hate to break it to you, but you are the neophyte here. (It's not spelled neophite; you could at least get that correct). A CRT projector is one that uses CRT tubes rather than a bulb and LCD or DLP technology.

There is a picture of one for you and yes I know he was talking front projection. They are traditionally not used too much anymore as they are obviously very big and very heavy. They are also expensive, very expensive to buy but they do last quite long and you don't have a few hundred bucks on a bulb every time. They also don't have a native resolution as is with any CRT.

Brand and model are of course relevant; it's much easier to figure out where the mount holes are (and trust me, it's a big difference between those little things best buy sells vs a real professional unit)
