    how to set master and slaves?

    well

    its just wat we called jumpers

    they are in between the pins and the 4-pin power cable

    they are ::::

    normally it would be in the 2nd from the pin

    that is;

    :[:]::

    thats slaves

    however master:

    [:]:::

    GL normally i would go to Device manager and scan plug and play devices

  2. you need a new cable, one with a slave and master plug on it. once you have that, look at the diagram on the bottom of the harddrive and find the jumper diagream and set the jumper to "slave" and then plug it into a power cable (on your brick) and close your machine up.

    Start your computer.

    You have a slave drive, but i dont think you can get any files off of it if it didnt work as a master.....

  3. Hi Nubia

    To intall that old drive , although it will be worthless if it died, remove the jumper on the HD and place on the next 2-set of pins. Usually, the configuration is written on the drive where to place the jumber. Or , sometimes, you can remove it completely.

    Then, attach it to the second ide, go into system bios, and see if the drive appears. Make sure you click on it to make it slave.

    If it recognizes it and it says master, then close the computer, and change the jumper on the HD to the next following 2-set of pins.
