  1. Windows XP comes with a telnet client - just enter command prompt and enter 'telnet <target ip or hostname>

If you mean telnet server, you'll need to get some third party software for this as it's not standard in Windows.

    Note telnet is incredibly insecure.

  2. You prolly already have it, Start>>Run>>CMD

type "telnet <host name or IP address>"

    hit enter

  3. The built-in client is pretty minimalistic. I recommend PuTTY, which can be found at http://www.putty.nl/

  4. If u hv winXP telnet comes by default in Hyper Terminal.

  5. Assuming you are running a Windows O/S then Microsoft has installed a basic Telnet application.

If you desire a more advanced telnet that is also capable of other features like Secure Telnet (TCP/22) or logging and copy & Paste items.  Then I would recommend downloading one from either download.com or twocows.com.

Amongst the free ones I have found to work are:

    teraterm

    putty

Both allow for both telnet and ssh sessions and more robust logging then the telnet client that Microsoft uses.

    Hope this helps

  6. As others have said you already have telnet as part of Windows XP.  If you're not comfortable using the command line version there is a free download from www.putty.org that has a Windows interface.
