  2. I think before u was running Vista, there are some problems of installing XP after format Vista, I think the best option for u is that contact HP customer care or any professional Hardware technician.

  3. Contact hp and ask them for the drivers. I assume you're installing this to replace Vista.... ask HP for help.

  4. Set you SATA controller to operate in Legacy mode in your BIOS.

  5. ur laptop is sata ahci mode so use ahci drive of  mother board 965 and edit ur xp to merge to driver or use floppy to instal driver

  6. Hi

Here is the link that you will need. You have to get nLite first.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/r...

This will allow you to use your CD. Just read my link carefully and it will go very quickly and hassle free in minutes. forget with the fooling around with SATA and what not. Just use this link.

  7. Newer laptops/desktops use SATA not IDE which XP supports.  You have to create a custom install of XP for XP to "see" your hard drive or it wont install on it.  They used to tell you to use floppies, but now you can just put the drivers into the install.  Its called "slipstreaming"  I use nLite to integrate the drivers into the XP install, make sure to add SP2 (which you can also do with nLite) or it will just bluescreen after the 2nd stage of the install.  Here's also a link that goes more in depth . . .

I also want to clarify something, if you set the drive to legacy mode, if you can, you WILL NOT get the full performance of the drive.  You can do it, but it wont be as fast.  It might not be noticeable, or it might be huge, you dont know until you try.
