  1. there should be a jumper in a slot on the drive, it currently is connecting two pins, there should be a label in the drive that shows where the jumper is supposed to be, it needs to be set as master.  If you want the other drive to be the slave then it needs to be changed to slave.

  2. u need to change position of jumper

    see that

  3. There is a small jumper by the pins on the hard drives. They may be on slave, master, or cable select. There is always a diagram that shows you the proper setting for each hard drive(some more confusing). While some are pictures easy to read, if it says sumthin like Master 1 and 2... look on the board at the bottom of your hard drive and it should tell you where pin 1 is... 1 and 2 are vertical to each other and from there, same pattern with 3,4 and so on. So just set your slave to master and vice versa. Make a note though, if you slave is not formatted to the computer u already have u may have to reformat in order to make it run and be able to start up on your computer, and that may result in loss of information.

  4. change the jumper pins on both hard drives, unless your computer is using cable select. Then just reverse the cable

  5. Look for the pin in your hard drive, hard disk usually has information on its back where the pin should be inserted.  Then just interchange the cables.

  6. Are they SATA or IDE? If they are IDE you will need to change the jumper on the back of the hard drive itself in order for the cable to detect whether it is slave or master. Once the slave and master jumper settings have been switched then re-connect the hard drives and it should be switched.

With SATA there is no slave or master and the primary is determined by the active/bootable partitions on each.

  7. I am assuming you mean IDE drives since sata drives are not bound by master/slave settings.

On the back of the ide drive next to the power and ide cable there is a small set of pins with a jumper. Look on the label on the drive itself and it will tell you how to set the pin for master or slave or CSL(which I think only dell uses this...)

When the jumper is set, you need to connect the drive to the very last IDE connector on the cable, the one closest to the middle connector.
