Ok, so I got this new kitten named Zeke and I have to let my other cat Max get used to him, are there any special ways to do that? I'm a little worried that he'll attack Zeke. Zeke is still a really tiny kitten. Help please!

Additional Info:

Both cats are Male.

Max is neutered Zeke is not.

Max is an indoor/outdoor cat.

  1. Keep Zeke separated by using a baby gate, or big pet crate.  Put his blanket and food with him.

Wait a few hours (or even a day) and let each of them sniff each other through the bars, etc....

If Max doesn't growl or hiss, he may be ok with the little new guy.

Then let them out together and watch closely nearby... Eventually they will be pals.

I had two cats that didn't really like each other for a year and a half, but eventually they became best friends.

  2. okay well i have 8 cats in my house and every time we got a new kitten what we did was make a special room for the new kitten like a bathroom, put a waterbowl, foodbowl, litterbox, toys, etc. in the bathroom and then we visited the new kitten like 50 times a day, since there is a crack under the bathroom door you should get your new cat to come and smell the door because he will smell the kitten from under the door and eventually he will get used to it, maybe 1-2 days after your older cat gets used to the smell start letting him see the kitten but just a quick glance not like a playtime or the kitten might get hurt do this about 3 times a day, until they can be in the same room together for about a minute when you feel like you can trust your older cat take a dishtowel and rub your older cat with it all over so the smell will get on the rag, then you go to your kitten and rub it on him so the smell will rub off on him then they will smell like each other, do this about 3 times a day too, then you can start letting them in the same room for about an hour and when they get along really good let the kitten run around the house with his new buddy :)

    i hoped this helped

  3. keep them apart for a while, take a damp wash rag and rub it on their heads, especially aroud the scent glands and ears, switching from cat to cat. use the same rag for both pets and after a while they will get used to eachothers scent. this will tell them that no cat is a threat to the other. introduce them slowly, just in case.

  4. you might have some problems because they are both male but all u can do is like put Zeke in the carrier and put Max near it. so that if Max gets aggressive it wont hurt Zeke.
