I was wondering about the true, up to date requirements because I have heard many different things, and can you be a Commisioned Office and still join?

  1. You can't join FORECON anymore, they are disbanded.  But these are what the prerequisites were: current physical (no flaws); GT score of 105; CWS-1 swim qualification; 20/20 vision (with minimum correction allowed. [Laser-eye surgery is acceptable as long 20/20 is corrected]); Normal color vision (with exceptions of able to identify color contrast between red and green); Good Pro/Cons [3.8/3.8 or higher]; Security Clearance eligible; and permission from the Sergeant Major of your command.

And you can be a Commissioned Officer in FORECON but you will not be going out with the team during missions.  Only SNCOs and NCOs are the workhorse of the operation.  They will attend during training however when the Company's S-3 Shop conducts it.

Like what LavaDog says:  FORECON has been disassemble and re-established as the Marine Special Operations Battalions (MSOBs) at the new Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC), a subordinate to Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

  2. How about you enlist and become a Marine first..Then you may try out for Recon..and if you are good enough there you may continue onto MARSOC which is where Force Recon dissolved into..

    RECON before FORCE...

  3. nothing ma cuzin is in the marines all u need is a clean record wif u not being bad nd stuff u cant use drugs fro 2 weeks or alcihol

  4. True, up to date... you need to do about 2 years as a Rifleman or Recon man before you may try out for MARSOC (the new Force Recon).
