  1. clock how fast you are going. for example. if you are going 5 feet per second, not fast, then when you get to the fence, are we talking metal chain or wooden? w/e ill answer both. anyway, in example 5 fps divided by 3= how many feet you should be away from fence before you attempt to hurdle it. on tall metal chain one, jump onto it, hooking your hands into the highest rings you can grap. push your feet into the links so you can push, not so that they are stuck there. when you get to top, swing leg over, then other. when you are bout 5-3 feet from ground drop and bend your knees when you land so as to absorb the shock. have fun

  2. Clock your time over a set course, ride it regularily. Next time you do it try it with your horse very collected and round, notice that the time will not be much different. Now with the same amount of round you can bend your horse around corners much tighter and even jump at angles. You will want to ask your horse to really drive forward by sitting slightly deeper in the saddle. If your horse has alot of hang time you will not get great speeds so try to teach it that hanging over a fence is not necessary.  Sorry I don't have time to get too in depth at the moment I will be back later!
