How to keep Centipedes away?

Just moved to a rural area killed a Centipede last night is there anything out there that keeps pests such as these away besides cats and normal pests control

  2. Monk:  The best thing is to remove all leaves rotting wood that is close to your house this is where the breed and multiply.  I would go to the hardware store and Diatomaceous Earth and spread lightly around your house.  Do not buy type made for swimming pool filter, it will not work.
