How to keep a straight course while coxing a boat?

i need to know this because i have been having problems steering the boat

  1. The main thing to do is before you start the boat moving, or even while the rowers are rowing, adjust where your boat is facing and pick a certain, non-moving point on the horizon. It can be a tree, and tall building, a TV tower, anything. Just make sure it can't move. Then always keep that point lined up perfectly with the bow of your boat. Adjust the steering ropes when you need to to keep your point on the object you chose, or if you're way off point, have your rowers go hard on starboard or port.
