You know when you cut up an avo and use only half, and then you put the other half in the fridge. Well it seems that the fridge half of the avo goes bad SO quickly... mine went all brown overnight so I had to throw it away. Any ideas as to how to keep it fresh?

  1. I heard if you leave the seed in .. it will help

  2. lLeave the seed in cover with plastic wrap

  3. Lime juice on the cut side will keep it from oxidizing. Leve the pit in to naturally protect the area that it covers. If I don't have lime, (or lemon) I'll just half it putting pitted half away with as little air as possible and when I do use the other half I will Just shave off the ring of avocado that was exposed and the rest is fine.

  4. The best way I know is to put it into a ziplock bag and freeze it.  Flatten it out so it thaws quickly.  The other methods simply don't do it.  It's also good trick for when avocados are cheap.

I buy frozen avocado pulp all the time for my Mexican restaurant and it will last indefinitely frozen.

  5. Lemon juice stop any fruit browning...

  6. Squeeze some lemon juice over it.

  7. lime juice works as well, and suits the flavour of avocado, if its in the context of something like a salsa (e.g. chopped tomatoes, avocado, red onion, coriander and lime juice)
