Just wondering the best way I'm quite young at coin collecting living in the uk so most of my buys are from ebay as no local coin shops.

I have at the moment over 500 coins oldest one is 1560.

There is over 23 different countries and have started cataloguing them in excel.

i want to split all of the coins separately when my collection gets bigger

THE QUESTION

what is the best and safest way of protecting them binders/boxes/cases or other ?

any answers would be greatly achieved.

  1. go to w.h.smiths they sell coin collectors albums,or try on line and order by mail order through coin collectors clubs

  2. It depends on the value of the coins. Most coins in the $10 and under can go into Mylar 2x2 cardboard mounts then put in to the 20 pocket pages that fit 3 ring binders. More valuable coins can go into archival plastic flips, they too will go into the pages. On more valuable coins hard archival plastic cases are better. To see a lot of ways to do your coin thing, go to www.brooklyngallery.com they have a great selection of coin and stamp supplies as well as good prices. It depends on the value of the coin as well a what I want to do, as to the system I use. I use the coin program exact change for my coins but it is limited. I still have not found a good program for my ancient and medieval Asian coins. I leave excel alone, I know my coins but not that.
