i have a 55 gallon long tank. 3 good size pieces of rock and wood plastic ornaments in it. 35lbs of black gravel and stock everything that came with the tank from walmart. i check water every week sometimes 2xs. i have a plant in the tank also i bought seeds from walmart. i have 1 male crown betta and 4 zebra fish. 2 of the zebra fish look fat and the other two skinny so i figured 2 were prego. well i saw some baby fish in the tank and my boyfriend changed the water and didnt know and i havent seen any for 1week till now. ive seen one. so the question is how do they live in my tank without getting another tank for the babies and also how often do the fish have babies. i forgot to say that i have two blue neon lights on at night and the white light is on for about 8hrs. just thought it was cool that i had baby fish in my tank and it was one way to get more fish. just dont really know how to care for them or if i need a sep. tank

  1. well 1st of all some of your fish might eat your baby fish and you should ask petco or petsmart about this too.

  2. First make sure you have plenty of hiding places in the tank so the other adult fish don`t eat your fry. Plants, breeding grass, caves, etc. work well. I have seperate  tanks for my baby fry and my juvenile fry. I feed them crushed flakes, crushed blood worms, and crushed brine shrimp. They thrive. Make sure you feed them two to three times a day and your fry will do fine.

  3. If you don't want a separate tank, try to net any babies that you can find and put them in a net breeder that hangs on the side of the tank. This will help prevent others eating the babies as well as help with feeding them.

  4. FEED IT AND MATE WITH IT

  5. FEED IT, if it starts gettin lonely then find it a partner, but mainly its important to feed it u have to be  careful of also OVER feedin it.

  6. feed them like everyday at least three times a day or maybe even more

  7. oxygen!

  8. Zebra danios are not live bearers,so you never had a pregnant fish. Here is an article on how to breed them successfully.

Breeding fish is a lot of fun,but make sure you have at least a 5 gallon fry tank,if you want them to grow big enough to be put back in your main tank.

  9. baby fry can eat and thrive on krill (sea monkeys). at a lot of pet stores, you can culture your own- They sell the eggs in packages.

Follow those directions, and release in tank.
