How to keep flies away?

Does hanging plastic bags of water repel flies. Ive seen some places hang bags of water from the ceiling and its supposedly to keep flies away. Does anybody know if this is true?

~~Yes this is a great trick whiich works! You fill a ziplock bag half way full of water,, actually two bags work tthe best. For some reason this disorients flies and they turn the opposite way and fly away. For best results you want them on the outside of the door leading inside you home.~~

Not true. There is a lamp with the blue light. Flies are attracted to it and get electicuted at the of their jorney... works very well..

i found a solar powered bug zapper like she said and wasp traps

where they get stuck and drown work too.
