Its raining pretty heavily here and flies are swarming in and out,no matter how clean the house is.I hav tried using dettol, black phenyl etc to clean the floor.I keep all food items covered, but nothing seems to help. I hate keeping all doors and windows closed coz it blocks ventilation.

Is there any other effective home remedy? I don't want to use pesticides and harsh chemicals coz I hav a small baby at home.Pls help. Serious answers pls.Thanks...

  1. Well, I would try a fly trap, hangs from the ceiling so no child should be able to reach it and in a very short while you will see them sticking to it and not in your food or on your face...  :)

  2. Well, you don't seem to indicate where the flies are originating from.  If they are merely coming in from outside, there's not much you can do beyond seal up the entrances.  You could buy an air curtain to put above your door.

  3. Spread some oil , preferably thick ones like 'gingily oil' on a pieces of paper.....hang them around where the flies come in and go out.....

  4. Spray Spray Spray - But not the beez

if they are beez you may be solving the great bee mystry

  5. You have to stop using the chemicals because they are killing or driving away all the things that would have eaten the flies and the maggots that turn into flies. Frogs, birds and lizards will not live in chemical wastelands. Stop using them.

Plant a frog pond. Grow some pyrethrum daisies in baskets around your doors. Always pick up after your dogs in the yard. Keeps screens shut. Attract birds and lizards to your gardeb by leving them feeding boxes and things for the lizards to hide under.

Don't kill house and garden spiders or take down their webs as they are an extremely efficient fly trap and will do you no harm if you do not poke at them.

You can make simple fly traps yourself to hang in the trees in your yard and over doorways. Fill a plastic soft drink bottle to 1/3 with a sugar syrup. Leave the lid open and suspend from a tree branch. Hundreds of dead flies will accumulate there every week. You will see a real difference in just a few weeks.

PLEASE knock off the poisons. You are killing yourself and many innocent garden creatures but as you have already said it is havinf F**all effect on the flies.

So try it my  way for a while. What have yoy got to lose?

Honestly the natural ways are the best.

  6. house flies cannot move below 29'C maintain the temp and get them out

  7. purchase a fly swatter....its available in different shapes and sizes and is really effective!!

if you or anyone at house can manage to pree a button whenever a fly or mosquito comes in contact!!

Flyscreen doors allow the sunlight and breezes in but keep the flies out - they are very common on houses in Australia.

Hang plastic bags filled with water all around the house. The sun shines on the water and reflects a "spider web" effect. The flies will not enter for fear of getting caught in the web. It works! Hang some around your door to slow the flies down, they will be afraid to enter your door.
