Because I am going on vacation to Atlanta, GA from July 29, 2008 - August 7, 2008 and on the plane rides I would like to be able to see a video off of the portable DVD player I have. How to keep it charged up enough it won't turn off in the middle of a movie and what is the best way to do it when traveling, especially on a plane in the air?

Thanks,

Ryan

  1. Where are you flying from?  If your player has a rechargeable battery, charge it before you leave home.  Also, if you want to watch while waiting in the terminal and it takes AC power, you can find plugs throughout the gate areas (although not always easy to find and often already being used by others).  If it runs on regular batteries, just have some extras handy.  Unless you're in first or business class, you will most likely not have a power port (eg, EmPower) on board the plane in coach (check seatguru for airline and type of plane - link below).

The other option is to get an external battery pack that is compatible with your portable DVD player.  I've linked a few examples below, from the very cheap and easily accessible (walmart) to the very high quality and very expensive (batterygeek).
