  1. put him in the car and tell him 2 lay down and give him a treat when he does

  2. Well one solution is buying a dog car seat which is a little cage that is made to go in your car. To just relax your dog get him a chewy toy or bone that he can chew on so he will relax and enjoy his toy or snack.

  3. I too had an excited doggie.  I bought him a harness and put him in a seat belt.  He doesn't like it but it's safer.  Here in California, we have a new law that says we can't have a pet on our laps.  It's the "Paris Hilton" law.  So, a crate or harness is the best bet here.

  4. Have you tried to put a harness on him and attaching it to the seat belt?

They are safer that way also.

  5. will your dog sit still and obey you during non-car episodes? if not you have to work on your dogs behavior outside of the car first, when your dog can sit and stay regardless of distractions then you can begin with working on the car rides.

what i did was attach a leash to the headrest of the backseat and only left enough length so that my dog could comfortable sit or lie down without being able to move about freely. stopped the situation of interrupting me while driving.

  6. I had the same problem and ultimately had to get a crate.  There really is no good way to train a dog to sit still when he is THAT excited.  My dog doesn't like the crate, but oh well; it's better than him jumping all over the car and possibly causing an accident.

  7. pet him

    it should calm him down

tell him to stay in a loud voice

    it works with my pug=]

  8. start off with short rides or just sit in the car with him for a few min. and let him get used to it. some dogs are just freaked out buy the fact that they are moving and they cant control it. work your way up and try to take the dogs mind off of the motion...
