I havent got a garden hose, or able to attach one in the garden. I have to water my lawn and plants with a watering can, it takes AGES!

And my garden is so dry its like dust, how can i keep the moisture in? I only moved in a couple of months ago and the garden was left to its own devices for a while fro previous owners.

  1. Spread organically-rich Yates Waterwise Mulch around plants.  It absorbs easily, reduces water loss by up to 75%, helps hold mositure and gradually improves the soil.

  2. a water-holding ploymer....you can get it at stores..or you can rip open a diaper- thats what makes diapers absorbant.

  3. Something that works well for me is- I spread newspaper a couple layers thick and than cover that with landscape fabric. The newspaper lets moisture through yet helps prevent evaporation. the landscape fabric also lets moisture through, holds down the newspaper and both help control weed growth. Don't use the slick  ad paper and the fabric can be found in nearly any dollar store. In the fall, remove the fabric and store for next year and let the paper finish rotting, it's made from wood and will help the soil.

  4. Get a hose, a sprinkler, and a hose timer that screws onto the hose bib (spigot).
