How to keep pets entertained?

I'm going back to college this semester and I have 2 cats and 2 dogs that will now be home all day alone. (I've been working just down the road, so I was able to come home during to day to see them. Now, I'll be an hour away all day long.) All 4 stay in the garage (yes, it's climate controlled) while I'm away. What can I put up for them to keep them entertained while I'm away?

I'm sure the cats will be fine on their own... Maybe a cat tree (self-built or purchased) to keep them away from the dogs if they get too rowdy.

Will the dogs be crated or loose? If they are loose I would suggest carefully making sure that all chemicals are well out of reach and proceed to hide stuffed & frozen kongs, chew toys, treats, et cetera all over the garage. (Make sure that your dogs will not 'guard' these things and fight with each other!) If they run out of treats to find I'm sure they will be just find for the remainder of the day simply playing with each other.

dogs- squeaky toys

cats- rubber bands or ponytail holders thats what my cat loves or string hanging on a door k**b mine likes that too

You can get a cat tree for the cats and some balls to play with, the dogs will need to be walked when you get home and you can play fetch with them, they don't need too much exercise just keep them active some time during the day. It will also benefit you with some exercise also. Have fun.
