I just dyed my hair a deep dark red. It's gorgeous and I totally love it!

Only thing is, I know it'll fade fast! What can I do to keep the colour in without it stripping after the first wash?

  1. I have this problem as well, so I use the Aussie colour care shampoo and conditioner which works well and isn't too expensive (only about £4 a bottle).  They also make a 3 minute hair mask which revitalises your hair colour.

    Good luck.

  2. You should always be using color safe shampoo, preferably salon quality. I use biolage color care shampoo and conditioner if I color my hair. Also you can use a red depositing color gloss to keep the color vibrant in between dying.

You could also use John Frieda's radiant red shampoo and conditioner if you wanted.

  3. One of the best things I found is sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) free shampoos, basically they don't foam up but they will clean your hair as well as normal shampoos without stripping the colour as much.  I think boots do one in their baby range, I get one from tescos kids section called 'Halos n Horns'.

  4. use products for coloured hair (colour fixation are good, and have henna in them so will help the red) and add 2-3 tablespoons of manic panic temporary colour creme to the shampoo and a conditioning mask. that way the colour wont fade so much with each wash and when you leave the mask in for 20mins once a week you give the colour a boost.

  5. no matter what hair colour will fade quickly. i have always found that red is the fastest to fade.  I would suggest getting it dyed more often then, or maybe dye your hair a brown/red colour

  6. haha my hairs naturaly red. =P

  7. Their are kinds of shampoo that has color treatment in it. Pantine Pro V has a good kind for red hair. Try that
