How to kill a rat?

I have a rat and he's pretty darn smart. I have set traps but he doesn't seem to take the bait. Any ideas? Also, after I catch him, how do I make sure I got rid of all it's droppings and stuff. I have two little kids and don't want this stench in my house...

I don't want to use poison.

  1. i dont approve of killing any animals but i understand your problem

so buy a really big mouse/rat trap

put peanut butter in it (cause its sticky)

    and try that

if that doesnt work try calling an exterminater

  2. You're cruel.

Set mouse traps. Big ones. Instant kill though, so they don't suffer. That's even more cruel.

  3. YOU GUYS ARE ALL CRUEL !!!!

  4. go get ******, mother ******* *** hole son of a *****, what the **** did the rat do to you, love dont kill!

  5. Don't use glue traps

    They are really cruel

  6. Killing is only the easy-way-out, quick-fix sort of answer. Rats are NOT solitary. Where there is one, I guarantee you there are more nearby. So you can keep killing them all you want, the point is that something about your house attracts rats. If you want the permanent solution that will ensure you no pests will ever "move in", I suggest you find what is attracting them, and find a way to remove it. So that means look through the house and seal all holes and cracks. Make sure there are no places food is accessible. Such simple things.

If you insist on using traps, try humane ones. You can get them at some hardware stores. They will catch them live, and you can either drop the rat off at some woods or park, or bring it to a wild life centre. They would probably euthanize it, but at least that's humane.

  7. Use a humane trap, I'm begging you!!!!!! There is no reason to kill innocent animals. Good Luck

  8. The best trap is the large, simple, cheap wooden "snap trap." They are sold in hardware stores.

    To use the trap:

        * BAIT IT with pieces of apple, potato, raw bacon or with peanut butter.

        * ATTACH IT firmly to the ground or solid place to keep the rat from dragging the trap away.

        * PLACE THE TRAP near where you have found the droppings. Make sure the trap is safe from people, children, pets or animals who could get hurt from it.

  9. ummm.... cruel much?? this si the PET section... re-ask this in another section, preferably one NOT full of animal lovers.

  10. this isn't the place for this question.

here people have rats as pets, hence the reason it is under the PETS section.

  11. humane is the best way, traps are mean and leave a mess, not sure were u can find them, but they cost about $8-10.00

  12. Glue traps work good.
