How to kill fleas on a cat flea comb.?

I bought a Flea Comb today to brush my cat with. Plenty of fleas are on on comb after just one stroke across the cat. They won't die when I try to smush them. Any other good ways to kill them?

Drown them in alcohol. If you are trying to get rid of fleas on your cat though, you may need more than just a flea comb. Try frontline.

fleas are pretty flat, so it's really hard to smush them. you can comb the cat and put the fleas you get into a bucket of soapy water (dish soap works best, just wash the comb quickly in the water to knock the fleas off). you have to move quickly, so that the fleas don't jump off, so have the water right next to you. fleas can float, but the soap creates a layer on the water that makes them sink. you'll want to leave them in the bowl for about an hour just to make sure they're dead. you should try this before you do frontline or any other product, it's an easy and cheap way to treat fleas. (don't forget popular flea hiding places, back legs and under the ears)  if you're still worried about eggs after doing this def try flea medicine, but this will deal with the adult fleas immediately

How about getting some actual flea treatment? You're completely wasting your time trying to kill them one by one. You'll NEVER get them all - and even if you do they will have laid hundreds of eggs by now!

Go to a vets and get some Frontline. This can also be bought from pet stores and pharmacies. You apply it to the cat, it spreads through their whole skin and kills all fleas within 24 hours. Or you can get the spray version from a vet, this kills them right away. Or get a Capstar from a vet, that kills them all within a few hours. You will need to spray your home if the cat has that many fleas because 95% of the flea population is in your HOME in the form of eggs, larvae and pupae!
