How to know if my alexandrian parrot is a male

my parrot is 19months old and i bought it when it was 1 month old,the breeder i bought it from was convinced it was a male cos it had a flatter head but it hasnt got the black ring around its neck yet-is that normal and if so when do they develop that ring or is it a female.any info will be appriciated thankyou

The DNA sexing test is a secure method to know your bird s*x. Of course you need to go to a veterinary clinic.

Anyway  you can use a domestic  method used in pet stores to s*x determination,

Touch very gently between the foot of the bird until find the frontal pelvic bones. if they are so separate as to allow the egg pass, then you have a girl. If the bones are so close then you have a boy. Is analog to the human case, the pelvic bones in women are wider for the baby birth.  

  This method is very acute in agapornis, conures and many others psitacines.
