I was always told any after market fan voids the warranty, I was told that you have to send it to microsoft and have them do it to keep the warranty good.

If you take off the front facia you will see a silver sticker with Microsoft on it. If it looks to have been ripped off and reapplied then it's void. If it's pristine you will be fine.

The type of cooler that will void the warranty are the Talismoon WhisperMAX fans where you have to open the Xbox to fit them. The type that slot onto the external case of the xbox (at least the ones that have their own power supply) are fine. Nyko have a new version out with power supply. Their old version that piggybacks off the Xbox power will cause the RROD (Red Ring of Death) and that will void your warranty (if you told MS!)
