How to know which programs are running on my computer?

Double mbs are being consumed as compared to before when i use the msgr, i think something is running but not visible, how to remove it.

  1. Windows:

    For running processes Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and see the memory usage.

    To stop processes from automatically starting up, Go to start>Run, type msconfig, hit enter. On the startup tab uncheck any useless process. Don't uncheck the critical processes though.

    GNU/Linux:

    Run 'top' or ps -e

    Mac:

    Mac sucks. But I think the same commands will work here too.


  2. Why oh why doesn't anyone ever mention what operating system they're using?

    What is it: XP, Vista, a Mac (no Linux user would ask this question)?

    If XP, right-click the taskbar & select Task Manager.  Or do an internet search for 'Autoruns' and install it (it's free).
