Hi, I have a gas grill that I want to place outside in my garden. Can someone give me a good idea of how to lay blocks in the garden so that I can place my grill outside. I have white gravel laid out at about 4 - 5 ft from my home to the lawn. I need to lay some blocks in the gravel. Any idea is greatly appreciated.

Thanks..

  1. dig a little...lay the bricks down.

  2. Where I live and work we use 2-3 inches of sand below the bricks. Level the sand using s string, wood stakes and a string level(You can get them at hardware stores) If you want it to drain a certian direction (Away from your house for example) adjust the string lower (maybe 1/2" - 1" lower) on the side you want the water to drain to. Lay the bricks on top of the sand. Some people will put landscape fabric between (keeps weeds down) the sand and the bricks, but unless its a huge area I wouldnt worry about it. Throw more sand on top and sweep in. Repeat that a few times until the bricks are firm, tight and excess sand stays on the surface.

Not to sure how gravel will work. Id say make sure its packed down pretty good, use a peice of 4 x 4 or a tamp (tool made for hand compacting soil, sand, gravel) to reduce brick movement and uneveness.
