Question:

How to learn typing fast?

this is a bit embarrassing, even though I just graduated with a bachelor of science in computer science I can't fully type on a keyboard without taking my sight fully off it. I type relatively fast but I never use my pinky and ring finger for it.

so far to correct this I've only tried the mavis bacon application, its nice but for some reason I can't work on it for more than 20min, I consider myself a patient and mild person yet it drives me mad especially now that I have cleared most of the letter keys except the last row starting with (ZXCV) and the.,/...the most frustrating part is I cannot figure how to adjust my hand position to hit those. I am an avid gamer, so I should be able to get this right but I cannot, maybe I should try another approach but I am clueless please help :\

  1. The typing program that I used when I first learned how to type was UltraKey on a Mac. I don't know if you can get it for Windows or not, but UltraKey got me to where I am today (~75wpm.)

  2. I was not a good typist but I've picked up blogging so eventually it was easier for me to type since I type A LOT now. I guess practice makes "better", if not perfect.

  3. when I graduated H.S. I was certified at 70 WPM, however, I never used those skills in employment and therefore became rusty...I found this website and continue to practice, practice, practice...little did I know the keyboard skills I learned then would pay off with the lifestyle we have now!  GL, hope this helps you out
