How to let people know about your web design business?

Hi, i'm a 16 year old student. How do i let people know about my Web Design skills. I decided to focus on small businesses, but how do I let them know? My dad is backwards and doesn't see the point of websites (along with his other business contacts). I wanna make money so that I can buy my own PC. I need people to know about my service.

Hi,

Businesses like to see your work so you need a web sites showing some of your work. It will also help if you have your own domain.

You will also need some type of merchant account so you can you PayPal for this. You will need a bank account to use PayPal for this so read the rules there. You may need to have your parents set it up for you since you are 16.

Once this is done you need to advertise your business. This can be costly but there are some things you can do for free. Before you try to advertise anything you need to KNOW what people are looking for.

To do this go to www.freekeywords.wordtracker.com

You can type in a word and word tracer will show you all the searches done for that keyword and phrases using that keyword. The number you see will be the number of searches per day over a 90 period.

I went there and typed in "Cheap Web Design" this is what I got:

I searched Google for cheap web design and there are around 100,000 web pages for this key word. A little high but better than finding millions of pages so we can work with this keyword phrase.

So 34 people per day type this in the search engine. So if you have a good page the explains to them that web design doesn't have to be expensive to be good they may buy from you.

Next you create a web page about cheap web design explain what it will do for them, save money, get more customers, more customers will buy because it looks good etc. You can also search on articles that will talk about cheap web design in a good way. Read them and you can write your own.

Next go to web sites that Google consider High Page Ranking sites. You can write articles about Cheap Web Design and have it link back to your web design page on your site. If you write several UNIQUE articles and place them on high page ranking sites GOOGLE will see the big sites linking to you and raise your web site in google until those people who type cheap web design see you on the first page of google.

This takes a little work but it will get you on top of Google. Sites to post at are:

If you do what I showed you above it you can get people to your website for free. There is a lot more you can do but this will get you started. If you see more than 150,000 pages then skip that key word plus if you think the key word is good check in first in the keyword tracker before you waste your time on making pages because people may not be searching that keyword.

Put an ad in the local newspaper when they have one of their $5 specials.  THen Craigslist.   One 16 year old near me charges $300 to get a website up and working. /
