I really love going to Japan..but i'm one of the world's pickiest eaters. I really love curry, and cutlet and tempura but that's about it. And i want to go back in a year but i want to like/enjoy a lot more foods, and so i don't have to worry about being rude by not eating please help and tell me good dishes/safe dishes (I'm American haha) Thank you!!

  1. better to be honest and say sorry 'your food sucks'..than to vomit later right?

  2. You can't really learn a way to be open to it, even if something doesn't look to appetizing, TRY IT. You just MAY end up liking it. Plus alot of Japanese / Chinese foods don't look that great but they taste AMAZING.

  3. Try different Japanese foods here before you go back : ) If you like rice, you should be fine.

  4. One thing I always keep in mind is that if I eat something new, throwing any ideas about how I might not like it away, then people like me more.  Every time I eat something new in Japan, the people around me feel like I'm more their friend.

If you don't like something, so be it.  Just don't trick your mind into believing that everything new is gross and weird.  Also don't be very vocal about stuff you don't like.  Unless, of course you really hate it and want to make sure nobody ever gives it to you again.

In Japan there's so much variety in the food that you could eat something new every day for a year.

There's so much good food in Japan, I don't even know where to start.  Plus, I don't know your personal tastes, but here are just a few:

    udon

    ramen

    soba

    takoyaki

    okonomiyaki

    tebasaki

    kisshimen

    misonikomi udon

    nabe

    sukiyaki

    donburi (so many kinds!)

    nikujaga

    miso soup

kimchi (Korean, but still popular in Japan)

    gyoza

    mochi

    edamame

    sushi

    sashimi

    onigiri

    shioyakizakana

    yakitori

plus just a million ways to prepare any kind of vegetable, meat, or anything that's edible.

  5. I admire your guts.  I'm a domesticated american japanese food lover but I dont think I'd have the desire to actually go to japan and taste test the authentic stuff without a knowledgeable guide.

my nephew married a japanese girl he met there while in the military and every kind of packaged treat or munchy they bring back is fish head something.  lol.

  6. spyder roll and unagi, that's all I gotta say! Japan is awesome!

  7. Well actually you should just eat the foods you like there.IF you don't want something then just ask for something else.Don't worry this is not rude.I know I'm Asian. So have fun on your trip!!!

  8. best way to do that is to just try it sometimes the wiredset things can b the best oh and dont try the puffer fish that preatty gross
