Question:

How to link another car battery to existing battery?

I have a 95 accord currently. I have an Alpine head unit, with infinity speakers all around. I am also running a 200 W rockford fosgate amp for a rockford fosgate 10" stage 2 punch subwoofer. I want to put in (at least) a 500 W amp to run 2 12" subs if not more. Now the battery for that car is not big, as compared to like a SUV or truck. How do you link another battery, in the trunk, to the existing battery? Or can I just get a bigger battery to power that stuff? I would prefer to not get a bigger alternator by the way. Any suggestions please tell me, because I would like to add more stuff as well, like another amp at sometime to power the speakers too, so if a bigger battery and a capacitor maybe for big power spikes works then let me know, thanks!

  1. I got a 94 accord and if thats just 500w total you should be good to go. Just get a decent drycell battery to replace the current battery and do the Big 3 upgrade. My system is pushing 600w with no severe voltage spikes

  2. adding batteries don't do anything, car batteries are just rechargeable 12 volts.. your alternators recharges your battery...the problem is the alternators can't recharge your battery when u have to many electronics so adding another battery just slows the process in half but eventualy your car will die so just get a higher out put alternator ok!!! unless there is a reason u don't want to?????

  3. a second battery for only 700 watts of power?

why don't you just try a capacitor?

or try upgrading the "big 3"

bigger gauge ground wire grounding your battery to your car, bigger wire from the alternator, and a bigger power wire going to your amp/s

besides if you had 2 batteries you would need a new alternator every 4 or 5 months unless you got one pushing more amps... so maybe just getting the new alternator would be the best thing for you (even though you don't want to)
