  1. Hi, you already have rhythmbox. Launch the program by pressing 'ALT + F2'

then type in 'rhyt' - should be enough, and click the icon.

in the synaptic (launch by pressing ALT F2 and type 'gksudo synaptic')

    search for gnome-do (cool launcher)

    also 'listen' 'banshee'

    BMPx is really cool

    Audacity is small and fast

    Exaile is great

    Miro is great for podcasts/video

Songbird is trying to emulate iTunes using webkit

    VLC plays everything.

Generally, I set Rhythmbox to focus only on my podcast directory (set to /home/ME/podcasts) and then my huge music library on another partition, I do that with Banshee (media/sdb1/My Music).

Banshee can scan the music into the library super fast, and can fnd artwork. I'm not sure if Banshee is good at getting the lyrics - Rhythmbox is good for that. I need to go back and check!

    Have fun ;)

don't forget to make sure you get all your codecs (everything with gstreamer in synaptic is good) but rhythmbox will offer to start the download any time you're short.

  2. If you are asking how to listen to DRM protected music with Ubuntu you are not going to be able to.  But unprotected music I recommend Amarok. More info here: http://iaf.wyrdweb.eu/itunes-ubuntu-good...
