I have website template for Dreamweaver but when I open it through Dreamweaver nothing shows up in the window. What file am I supposed to click on to open it? There are folders within the file which say:Flash, fonts, html and psd. Then there are other files which are: 9555.html, 9555.swf, 9555-b.jpg and 3 other jpg files. I've used common website builders but never Dreamweaver. I was just going to learn as I go and since I already have the template I thought it would be easier, but I can't even open it...help please.

  1. A Dreamweaver template has the extention: .dwt. It sounds like you have a flash template. If that's the case, you should have a .fla file to edit. The .swf is the finished file.

  2. Hi,

For Dreamweaver html editor, the file type you should be looking for is html, php, xhtml, etc.

You will need Photoshop (photo editor) for jpg, jpeg, bitmap, tif file formats.

You will need RealPlayer or WindowMedia video players for swf file format.

You will need Adobe Reader to read and Adore Professonal to edit pdf file format.

    Good Luck

    Xpress

  3. If you wanted to use that template with a website builder. I have found one the other day that works with frontpage and dreamweaver templates. You will need to break down the template into peices then upload them as pics and put the template together like a puzzle . Real easy and kinda fun. check out vipersitebuilder.com
