one has to be with in 3 ft of the house and one every 50 ft or at a 45 deg turn...........

Around here they are often mounted on the waste pipe just above the floor.......They are less often in the floor flush with the cement.....and In the older parts of this town you can find them outside the house, (cast iron pipe)

You can also access the sewer line from the roof stack, and also by removing a toilet.

it's not a valve,it's an opening .with a s***w off cap. most of the time you can trace out the line under the house .........tom
