Question:

How to locate (legit) owner of lost iPod Touch?

In Etihad airways, they give you identical travel bags. My mom accidentally picked up the wrong one, containing the other passengers iPod.

There is no contact info on the iPod. All I know is it's serial number... but I don't know where to post it on the net or otherwise.

Also, I don't know how to determine the legit owner (from the pictures on the iPod maybe?). My mom said make them show the boarding pass, but loads of people are like me. Once you've boarded the plane the pass is in the bin.

So any ideas? I could just hand it to the local police...but they don't have a great reputation for finding owners...and I'm not sure if the passenger even lives in the UAE.

Internet seems to be the best way...but said iPod doesn't seem to have been registered, or listed as lost. I don't think the owner even knew the importance of saving his serial number.

Anyway. Appreciate the help

  1. May want to contact Apple. When a person hooks there Ipod up to their computer for Itunes they usually register the Ipod. So they maybe able to look up the serial number and locate the owner.

  2. dont post it on the net. try to call apple and have them do a search by the serial number.

  3. I'd go through everything on the iPod to see if it's owner put anything on it in case something like this happened. On my iPod, I've put in a text document called "Contact Info (read this if lost)," and the document itself has my name and contact info in it in case it's ever lost. I also have my name and email address engraved on the back, so try looking there for info, since it's not unusual for people to put names or other such things there in case it's ever lost.

  4. Contact Apple and give them the serial number.
