Question:

How to lock my bicycle with a u-lock?

I just bought a u-lock and i'm not sure of the best ways to lock it. I have a cheap mountain bike, and I doubt it would attract thieves, but i'll need my bike for college. Someone told me i should put the lock through the front tire, through the frame, and around the post/pole, but that won't fit with my bike. My bike doesn't have the quick release tire by the way

Thanks in advance for any answers

  1. I put the u-bolt thru the frame and rear wheel. Then I wrap a cable lock around the frame, front wheel and what ever I am locking the bike to.

  2. put it through the frame, and around what you are locking to. not through or around anything that can be easily removed. no quick release on the front wheel is a good thing as it will take longer to remove and thus steal. or if you want to go through both the frame and the wheel, just buy a cable lock, a good combination lock from lowes hardware is cheaper than its specialty bicycle counterpart, and can be wrapped around the seat post while you ride.
