How to long divide decimals? Plus some tornado questions?

I have 2 math problems, I just learned how to long divide but have NO idea how to do decimal division! I'm not looking for answers just help, all I know is that you move the decimal over one place. Because one of the problems I have is 3.24 divided by 1.8, but when you move the decimals over it is 32.4 divided by 18, but 32.4 doesn't go into 18?

Problem 1) 3.24 / 1.8

Problem 2) 10.64 / 1.4

Also this is random but what are the readings for the F-Scale for tornados? Like f0 is blank to blank mph. I know f1 is like 70 - 100 mph or something, so what is the whole chart? Thanks! Oh and also where can I see a list of tornados touching down? I saw a chart showing the f scale of the tornado, how many people were killed, injured, and the year it occured but the year only went up to 93, any more recent sites? Thanks!

  2. For a long division when there are decimals, do one thing first:

GET RID OF THE DECIMAL POINTS.

    (After that, just divide.)

    Remember that 10 / 10 = 1 , 100 / 100 = 1 , 1000 / 1000 = 1 , etc

And, when you multiply any number (including fractions) by 1, the number may look different, but the value of the number does not change.

    For example, what is 5.034 / 0.06 ?

Notice that the numerator has three digits after the decimal point and the denominator has two digits after the decimal point.  Notice that three is larger than two.

So, multiply both the numerator and the denominator by 1000

    (1 followed by three zeroes):

    (5.034 / 0.06) x (1000 / 1000) = 5034 / 060

This simply moved the decimal point in the numerator and in the denominator three places to the right (slapping a 0 after 0.06).
