  1. Check websites like idealist.com or call place you like to volunteer at and see if need support or hiring. Most places are willing to train individuals who are will to do social service. I am a Domestic Violence worker but went to school for Art.

To be a social worker you need at least an undergraduate degree (BSW) and most likely a master's degree (MSW).   MSW programs take 2 years to complete and it includes 2 internships.  To increase your chances of getting a job (esp. one that pays well) you need to be licensed.  This means that you have to pass an exam and be supervised by a licensed clinical social worker for 100 hours (may vary by state).  Anyway, if you're really interested in becoming a social worker, the first step is getting the degree.  Good luck.
