  1. Eat less and exercise more. If you reduce your calorie intake by 500 per day, you should lose about 1 pound per week, which will put you way ahead of your goal.

  2. If you're serious about losing weight you MUST try Acai Berry! I first heard about on Oprah, and I ordered a 14-day FREE trial from this site. I've already lost some weight and I've got tons more energy.

  3. That is a very realistic goal.

Keeping a food journal really does help.  It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days.  Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer.

Start a weight lifting routine. It will help increase your metabolism and make you feel and look better in so many ways. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish.   Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts.  Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.  Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses a day, and more if it is very hot, it you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Check out websites about nutrition, exercise, weight training, etc.  Here are a couple of helpful links.

  4. Since you have a year to reach your goal, this will be fairly easy. Figure out what your average daily calorie intake is and cut that by 150 (just eliminate a soda or junk food per day), and start walking a mile and a half per day, which will burn about 150 calories. That's a deficit of 300 a day, which over the course of a year will end up equalling about 32 pounds :)

Oh, and if you don't like walking, or want a change, check out the below site and just figure out how long you have to do a certain activity in order to burn 150 cals. http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/c...

    Good luck!

  6. When  losing  weight,  you should follow the dual course: exercise and

diet  together.  If  you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger

appetite,  which  will  lead  to  increase  of  weight, or muscle grow

underneath  the  fat  layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without

exercising,  you  will  become  flabby  and will have excess skin. For

diet,  go  wheat  free.  No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food

after  7  p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on

your  initial  weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If

you  don't  eat  wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey

cakes,  you  don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your

diet  is  still  balanced.  It  costs  nothing, and you do not have to

calculate  points  or  to  buy special meals or plans. For exercising,

start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the

most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a

lot,  walk  first  or you may have health complications (heart attack,

disjointed  bones and so on) For targeting your problem areas, check up

these  Workout  Exercises  :  Weight Training, Plyometrics , Stretches

(Flexibility),  Pilates,  Ball, Cardio Dumbbells, Cables etc. 100's Of

Exercises.  They  have animated photos, so it's easy to understand how

    to do them. http://www.myfit.ca/exercisedatabase/exe...

  7. I just lost 29 pounds in six months. Here's how I did it.

I worked out 6+ days a week. 3 days of 60 minute cardio (burning 600 calories) and 3 days of 20 minutes of circuit training.

I ate 1500 calories (my BMR, or daily calories burned) and tried not to go over.

I stopped eating sweets, salad dressing, or anything fried except for on a rare occassion. I ordered veggies or salad without the cheese instead of having fries at resturaunts and instead of a cheeseburger I would have grilled chicken.

    I weighed myself everyday.

I drank a LOT of water.
