  2. If you lose more than 2 pounds a WEEK, you're breaking down muscle tissue which is unhealthy. The most you should lose in a day is half a pound. If you want to lose 5 in one day, its not good for your body at all.

  5. in 8th grade my friend lost 5 pounds in a day for wrestling. he wore 4 shirts and three hoodies and four pairs of shorts and two pears of tear away pants. he ran around the gym the entire gym class. he also drank lots of water. but i dont recommend doing this.

My sister is a registered dietitian.  You should only lose 2-3 lbs per week.  Any more is extremely unhealthy.  Some people try to just starve themselves, but that only breaks down muscle tissue and not fat.  So, short answer - you shouldn't lose 5 lbs in a day.  If you are trying to make weight for wrestling or something, then pay attention to how much you are drinking because fluids add a lot of weight.  However, if you don't stay hydrated, then that's just as bad and you'll end up in the hospital like the olympic boxer that was sent home since he was in hospital and couldn't weigh in.  Bad news...
