  1. if you don't like don't play the game because you have to have the Passion to play the game

  2. by playing it, you will become unafraid of the ball, it is a great sport

  3. Volleyball ia a great sport. I should know I've played for 6 years. What you want to do is just be agressive on the court and set goals for yourself. ALWAYS stay confident and push yourself to do better each day. As long as you do this, you will always feel good about yourself and your sport.

  4. There's no need to be afraid. All you'll need is a ball, a net, your friends, and your mind to tell you there's nothing to be afraid of. Be brave. If any of your friends know sports, have them give you a few pointers. You're not useless, and you should never feel that way. There's always something to do, and in your case, it's playing volleyball. As I said, grab some friends, a net, a v-ball, and set your mind straight. If you aren't athletic, and aren't playing sports at all, there's a lot in life you'll miss out on...

  5. Sure, the ball can come at you pretty quickly when you're playing competitively, but until you get to that level, just play for fun.  Join a summer league through your local parks and rec. department or at the Y.

  6. Let me just start of by saying..volleyball isn't that easy as everyone says..You have to keep your eye on the ball at all times and pass good or set good..and of course SPIKE GOOD!But it isn't really that hard either!I was scared of the ball when i first started and then got used to it,i couldn't even serve..but now,I can!!!Hope I helped out..and good luck..Also try some volleyball summer camps, there great help!

  7. don't be afraid.. in the beginning, yes, it hurts your arms and they will turn red and hurt from the impact. But after you work at it, it's a great sport.. it's so team-oriented and you really get to know everyone on your team.

the thing about volleyball is you don't have to be superathletic like if you play soccer or basketball or something; it's not a ton of running, it's just speed and reaction time.

  8. The best way to learn the sport is to play it.  Check to see if your local YMCA, Boys and Girls Club or Parks and Rec have a league.  Make sure you are in an appropriate competitive level.  At the YMCA where I coach, there is a Rec League for players just getting started and two levels of competitive leagues for the more advanced players.

They are more expensive, but if you are afraid of the ball invest in a nice leather ball.  The Tachikara SV-5WS is a nice ball to start with if you are older than 12 and the Tachikara Volleylight is a nice ball if you are 12 or younger.

The thing I love most about volleyball is that hard work and attitude is more important that natural ability.  Give it a shot and approach it with an attitude of having fun.

  9. I play volleyball a lot, so I would reccomend keeping your eye on the ball and not be afraid. The worst the ball can do is give you a bruise.

  10. omg volleyball is my abolsute fav sport!  don't be afraid of the ball, it can't cause too much damage. just play in a league that offers pick up games they are non competetive and usually the people there have plyed many times before and are willing to help you succeed.  if you email me i can give you some pointers on playing, ive been playing for over a yr now.

  11. it is sooo fun. After you get the concepts you will good great

  12. To tell the truth, yes this sport is sort of scary. But hopefully you will have team mates that will be there to help you learn how to play it and not be jerks if your not the best. I was scared of the ball at first but thenn I just asked my coach to work with me on digging and just helping me improve my skills for the game. After the help I ended up making Varsity my Freshman year in High school and I'm only a Freshman now. Just dont be scared and stay positive. Never tell yourself you cant do it cause then your body will react to what your brain is thinking. So stay confident!

  13. i just started last year and all my friends had been playin for a year already and i had no clue about volleyball and ended up being a setter and one of the best players on the team and i had never played a sport in my life and i felt the same way like i would do horrible cause im really short for my age so i hope that helps
